Gordon was born and raised in Lebanon, Tennessee. A young couple, who left the former church he attended, asked Gordon to visit their Hendersonville Axis Community. It was during a season of seeking God’s face and direction to find a new church, and it was so strange for him (a former staff member of that very church) to “be on the outside” —not knowing anyone. At that AC, Gordon met a man and his wife who took an interest in him. Later, that man asked Gordon to have lunch and tell his story. He invited Gordon to a church service at the Axis… to hear *him preach. About the third Sunday he attended, he told God, “I live in Lebanon, and I am NOT going to drive all the way to this church each Sunday in Nashville while passing many good churches along the way.” (He laugh thinking how God just smiles as we tell Him what we’re “not going to do.” Gordon gladly drives, passing by many good churches, and serves on staff at this place & deeply love these people who are so dear to him now—at the Axis Church—all the way in Nashville.) Gordon has a Finance degree from UTK, and English degree from MTSU, and has taken classes at Southern Seminary. While Gordon does not have any biological children, he has become “Uncle G” to several families!
