We’re glad you’re registering for a discipleship cohort!

In the world of disciple-making around the globe, we have witnessed God profoundly use the Discovery Bible Study to usher hundreds of thousands of Not-Yet Believers (no exaggeration, millions actually) to faith in His son. And because of the robust and simple nature of the DBS, those very nascent Believers find themselves not only transformed by the gospel, but also capable of doing Discovery among the Lost in their spheres. Uniquely, it brings a feast to both the pedestrian as well as the seminarian equally.

We want that to be the same experience and the heartbeat for all of us at the Axis—to know, love, and obey Jesus and help others to the same—utilizing and practicing the Discovery Bible Study together.

We appreciate your trust and willingness to use this robust, simple format.

Where should our group start?

    1.    All members view videos before starting.

    2.    The Discovery Bible Study is self-paced

    3.    Groups may choose any book of the Bible

    4.    Start with narratives first rather than the theological treatise, like Romans and Ephesians, until you’ve developed a healthy rhythm for several months

    5.    Initially, we suggest you begin in the Book of John, staying a chapter ahead of our preaching series for optimal fullness, delight, and saturation.

Galatians 6:2

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

1.     Whatever book of the Bible, we suggest simply reading through the first chapter for context (or at least the initial first half)

    2.    Stay-stay-stay solely within the boundaries of the passage that you are discovering that week unless you are previously referring to former Discovery Bible Studies. This is key for focus and fruitfulness in what God wants to show you in this passage alone. (The videos are crucial to understanding why this is so important and crucial, as we fight to not become distracted by our own self-knowledge.)

    3.     Being seen/heard, being known, and knowing others each week at the beginning of the DBS is crucial to applying and practicing the one-anothers of Scripture. When we don’t bring our most vulnerable and authentic selves to each other each week, we close ourselves off to how the very Scriptures we are about to read/discover apply and profit our very souls. When we lack authenticity, we often prevent the Spirit from “speaking” through fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, their encouragement, edification, and their keen and godly insight that the Spirit might desire us to receive through them. (Note that God/His Spirit speaks by four means: His Word, through prayer, through Godly counselors (His Church), and through circumstances. All parts of the DBS are fitted together in purpose to minister to us and grow us in Christ
